Article I. IN GENERAL |
§ 1-6-7. Costs assessed against misdemeanor defendants convicted of unlawful use of drugs or alcohol; collection and use of funds.
(a)
Any person found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction in Charlotte County, Florida, of any misdemeanor under the laws of Florida involving the unlawful use of drugs or alcohol shall pay court costs in the amount of fifteen dollars ($15.00) to the clerk of the court, who shall receive and disburse said sum in the fashion described in F.S. 939.017(1)(b). The payment of said court costs in the amount of fifteen dollars ($15.00) shall be in addition to the payment of any other court costs which are required by law to be imposed and paid.

At least twenty-five (25) percent of the funds derived from the costs imposed herein shall be dedicated to the prevention of the use of drugs and alcohol by young people and for the treatment of young people for alcohol and drug related illness.
