§ 1-6-8. Service charge levied on county court civil proceedings and circuit court proceedings for support of mediation and arbitration services.

  • (a)

    Imposition of surcharges. There is hereby imposed a surcharge in the amount of five dollars ($5.00) upon any circuit court proceeding filed in the county to support mediation and arbitration services within the county. There is hereby imposed a surcharge in the amount of five dollars ($5.00) upon any county court civil proceeding filed in the county to support mediation and arbitration services in the county.

    (b)

    Collection of surcharges. The surcharges authorized by subsection (a) shall be collected by the clerk of the circuit court at the time of filing any county court civil or circuit court proceeding in the same manner as other filing fees for those proceedings are collected.

    (c)

    Proceeds from surcharges. The proceeds from the surcharges authorized in subsection (a) shall be used to fund and support family mediation services and mediation and arbitration services in the county, as authorized by F.S. 44.108.
