§ 2-1-41. Emergency Shelters.

(a)

It shall be the policy of the board that emergency shelter protection shall be incorporated into all county buildings or structures to the fullest extent practicable.

(b)

The OEM shall coordinate and work with all other county departments to attempt to ensure that the construction of county-owned structures be appropriately designed and located to serve as emergency shelters unless otherwise exempted.

(c)

The board shall encourage, through its community development department, the same emergency protection in the construction of privately-owned buildings of any nature designed for multifamily living or public buildings such as motels, hotels, theaters, shopping centers or places of amusement, or buildings of any nature constructed with public funds.
