§ 4-3-216. Budget.

  • Prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, a budget for the unit shall be considered and adopted by the board in the manner provided by general law. The ad valorem tax authorized in this article shall be levied and collected in the manner provided by general law for the levy and collection of county ad valorem taxes. The board shall certify annually to the property appraiser the millage to be levied in the unit. Taxes collected shall be remitted by the tax collector to the clerk of the circuit court who shall be the ex officio clerk and treasurer for the taxing unit. The lien of such taxes shall be equal to the lien of county taxes, and collections shall be in the same manner and subject to the same penalties and interest as county taxes.
