§ 4-3-21. Annual budget and resolution by board.

  • On or before July first of each year, the county administrator shall present to the board of county commissioners a budget containing plans and estimates of costs for work to be performed during the succeeding fiscal year. The budget shall be filed with the clerk of the circuit court and shall be available for public inspection. Thereafter, the board of county commissioners may, by resolution or in accord with such budgetary ordinances, resolutions or other provisions as are enacted hereinafter, determine and fix a budget for the department and shall state the amount to be paid by special assessments, identify the method for the determination of the proportionate share of each property, when the assessment are to be paid, and shall also designate the lands upon which the special assessments shall be levied. In describing those lands, it shall be sufficient to describe them as all lots and lands lying within Charlotte County except the Cecil Webb Wildlife Refuse; the area within the jurisdiction of the Englewood, Harbour Heights, and Boca Grande Fire Control Districts; the City of Punta Gorda; and the Barrier Islands Fire Service Unit.

Ord. No. 88-11, § 1, adopted May 10, 1988, added five sections to this Article II, which sections have been designated as §§ 43-21—4-3-25 by the editor. Section 3 of Ord. No. 91-1 added reference to the Barrier Islands Fire Service Unit. Section 4 declared the ordinance effective Oct. 1, 1991.
