§ 4-3-16. Created; jurisdiction.

  • There is hereby created a fire service unit which shall be known as the Charlotte County Fire Rescue Department, hereafter "Department," which shall assume fire and rescue responsibility in a jurisdictional territory which shall include the entire unincorporated area of Charlotte County except:

    (1)

    The Cecil Webb Wildlife Refuge; and

    (2)

    The area within the jurisdiction of the Englewood Fire Control District; and

    (3)

    The area within the jurisdiction of the Boca Grande Fire Control District; and

    (4)

    The area within the jurisdiction of the Barrier Islands Fire Service Unit; and

    (5)

    Little Gasparilla Island, more particularly described as: the island lying in Sections 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 27 of Township 42 South, Range 20 East of Charlotte County, Florida, further described as: the island lying in said sections of Township 42 South, Range 20 East, bounded by Gasparilla Pass to the southerly side; thence Placida Harbor and Lemon Bay to the easterly side; thence the southerly section line of Section 3 and the northerly section line of Section 10 to the northerly side; thence the Gulf of Mexico to the westerly side.
