§ 2-5-3. Security at public safety building.

  • (a)

    For the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

    Public safety building grounds shall include Lot 64 and Lot 49, Clay's Subdivision of Section 8, Township 41 South, Range 23 East, in the county, a subdivision according to the plat thereof recorded in Plat Book 1 at page 14 of the public records of the county, more particularly described as follows: Begin at the southeast corner of Section 8; thence go North 02°33′08″ East 618.09 feet; thence North 00°03′23″ East 1025 feet; thence South 40°42′38″ West 1047.60 feet; thence South 00°46′28″ West 848 feet to the south survey line of Section 8; thence east 665.55 feet to the point of beginning.

    Security area shall include any portion of the public safety building grounds designated by the sheriff of Charlotte County as such and posted as provided in this section.

    (b)

    Upon making a thorough examination of the security problems at the public safety building, the sheriff shall designate as security areas those areas from which it is necessary to exclude the public for the purpose of providing security at the public safety building. Upon making such designation, the sheriff shall post signs saying "Security Area—Do not enter," clearly delineating the boundaries of security areas from areas open to the public. Upon the posting of such signs it shall be unlawful for any person to enter into or be or remain in any security area without the express permission of the sheriff.
