§ 2-1-36. Emergency Management Office Created.
The board establishes the office of emergency management ("OEM") as a division in the department of public safety to act in accordance with and in support of the state division of emergency management and the state comprehensive emergency management plan and programs. The OEM shall be Charlotte County's "local emergency management agency" as that term is defined in F.S. § 252.34. The OEM shall also perform other functions, including advising the county administrator and the board on emergencies and disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, and assisting the board and county administration in the development and management of any county emergency management plans, programs, or activities designed to save lives, reduce suffering and protect property of the citizens of the county.
