§ 1-7-71. Creation and administration.

  • There is hereby created a program to begin as of January 1, 2007, to be known as the Active Military Combat Duty Grant Program under the direction of the county administrator through appropriate departments and offices of the county. The program shall award grants to active military personnel who have served forty-five (45) days or more in Iraq or Afghanistan, or who have been medically evacuated from Iraq or Afghanistan due to combat-related physical injury, regardless of the number of days in Iraq or Afghanistan, who have established homesteads in Charlotte County. Such grants shall also be awarded to the un-remarried spouse of personnel who have been killed in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan, regardless of the number of days served in Iraq or Afghanistan by the deceased.
